R Freedman Music publishes the work of composer Jonathan Howard Katz.

We are just beginning to add our catalogue to our online store, so please check back frequently for new additions. Physical scores in our catalogue are currently handled by Theodore Front Music Library, and product pages here link to their site to purchase. PDF copies are available directly through this website, with more titles coming soon.

Institutional purchasers may go through our distributors Harrassowitz and Theodore Front Music Library. If your organization does not have an account with either company, please contact us to place an order.

About Us

Composer and pianist Jonathan Howard Katz established R Freedman Music as his imprint for self-publishing in 2008. In 2025, he created an LLC to formalize and expand the company. Our music is on the shelves of over 45 university libraries, with several housing near-complete collections. Our signature product is the bound score printed on high-quality, 9 x 12 paper with impeccable music engraving, and this attention to detail extends to our PDF offerings as well.

Physical distribution is handled primarily through Theodore Front, which has a retail storefront, and Harrassowitz, which works exclusively with institutional accounts. Downloadable scores, permissions, and special orders are handled here.

Terms

By purchasing PDF scores from this website, you agree that they are for your personal use and may not be copied or distributed beyond what is necessary and reasonable for your study and performance. (For example, if you plan to perform a work with multiple parts, you may distribute the materials among your ensemble for your performance; you may not pass them along to another person or ensemble for their independent use.)

All sales are final. No returns/refunds on PDF purchases will be allowed except in the case of a defective file. Sales through third-party companies (i.e.—for physical scores) will be subject to the terms of those companies.

All works are registered with ASCAP, and we appreciate proper performance and broadcast notifications. Many of the works for sale were originally written for and performed with dance, but please note that they may not be choreographed or otherwise used in any derivative work without written permission from the copyright holder.
